The warm temps we enjoyed at the end of February have left me with a severe case of Cabin Fever in March. As a March baby, I am no stranger to the very real struggle of Mother Nature’s teasing – I’ve seen everything from snow and sleet on my birthday to sunshine and seventy-degree days. Don’t get me wrong, I love snowy days and cozy cups of tea, but by my birthday I start to Think Spring.

If you weren’t around Downtown Kenosha the past week and a half, you sadly missed out on Downtown Kenosha Restaurant Week. Restaurant Week this year included 20 restaurants throughout Downtown Kenosha that had fixed menu options, for either breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert. This was a great way to explore the different restaurants available downtown, that you’ve always wanted to try. It’s always exciting to hear about business success stories like the Uline story of how they started from their basement in 1980 and now are North America's leading distributor of b2ap3_thumbnail_Elsie_20170220-145144_1.jpgshipping, packaging and industrial supplies and employ 5,000 North Americans.  Which is why it's important to take notice as there’s something great to be said about our downtown business success stories.  For instance, that of Elsie Mae’s Bakery & Cannery, where she started at our very own Kenosha Harbor Market, moved to a small Downtown Kenosha store front, and steadily continues to expand at her current location at 5819 6th Avenue.  That’s Huge!  As you continue to read about other businesses that are growing in our Downtown area, please focus on their desire to remain in our Downtown where they are supported and believe in what’s to come.
