Downtown Kenosha's Summer Must-Dos

Summer is in full swing and there is no better place to spend your sun kissed days than in Downtown Kenosha, just steps away from the scenic shores of Lake Michigan. So, bust out your sunglasses, ditch the air conditioning, and get ready to have your best summer yet! Summer in Downtown Kenosha starts here.

Sailing anyone?
Kick off the summer with a tour on the historical Tall Ship Red Witch, a schooner docked on the Kenosha Harbor near 54th Street and 5th Avenue, just steps from Downtown Kenosha, museums, parks and the Metra station. You will enjoy an 80-minute sail with breathtaking views of the stunning shores of Lake Michigan. Red Witch offers public sails on the weekends and some weekdays or even better, host your next event on the Red Witch. Book here and let your summer set sail.

Living that patio life.
Looking to pair some fresh air with your rosé? Head on over to one of many Downtown restaurants that offer outdoor dining like Sazzy B, Swede’s, Slip 56 and then hit up the rooftop patio at Mike’s Sportsbook & Meat Bar. For those chilly summer nights, the famous patio at Wine Knot Bar & Bistro offers a covered and heated patio. Sip, sit, and stay awhile!

Fun for the whole family!
Gather up the kiddos and catch a ride on the lakefront trolley, stroll the streets of Downtown during Second Saturdays, paint your own pottery at Alpaca Art, and then stop by one of our local ice cream shops - Scoops Ice Cream, Sandy’s Popper, or Sugar Boxx - to cap off your summer nights.

Where food babies are made…
Taste of Wisconsin will make all your food-related dreams come true! Round up your favorite foodies and head down to Taste of Wisconsin from July 27-29, 2018. With over 40 vendors, no one will go hungry. Pack your plate with sweet corn, cheesesteaks, funnel cakes and sip some fresh squeezed lemonade while enjoying the sounds of local artists. Plus, there will be demonstrations from the pros and a kid zone.

The sounds of summer.
Whether you enjoy country or jazz, classic rock or soul music, we’ve got you covered. Grab your lawn chairs and blankets and head out to any of these amazing concert series!
Twilight Jazz is a free outdoor concert series sponsored by area businesses and located on the south end of Anderson Arts Center. It is a family-friendly event held on select Tuesday evenings during the summer. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Peanut Butter & Jam is an outdoor concert series presented by the City of Kenosha and Happenings Magazine. Performances are on Thursdays, July 12 through August 30, at 11:30am & 6pm. Pack your picnic basket, grab a blanket, and head down to Veterans Memorial Park right on Kenosha’s Electric Streetcar line.

Outdoor market heaven!
Farmers' markets are where it’s at, and you can support local growers, makers, and vendors at the stand-out Kenosha HarborMarket located on 2nd Avenue between 54th and 56th Streets, open on Saturdays from 9am-2pm. You’ll find everything Kenoshians love about summer—food vendors, live entertainment, fresh local produce, one-of-a-kind gifts and more. If you’re out and about around Kenosha HarborMarket, make sure to stop in at Ashling on the Lough for their popular Blood Mary or bring the kids to the HarborPark splash pad fountains located just east of HarborMarket near Southport Marina – sounds like fun!

Just for the big kids.
One of my favorites... Museum Crawl! This year it will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 and the cost is $40 per adult (21+ only). Sample a variety of exquisite foods and drinks from Downtown establishments as you “crawl” the Kenosha Public Museum, Dinosaur Discovery Museum and Civil War Museum via Kenosha’s Electric Streetcar. Plus, there will be live music and crazy games for all. Tickets sell FAST so register today! Don’t forget to stop in one of our museums to check out exhibits, take a workshop, or host your next event.

Think you’ve done it all? Attend an art class at Lemon Street Gallery, sweat it out with Rise and Grind Lakefront Yoga, or even head out on the lake with the Kenosha Charter Boat Association.
Get your summer on Kenosha!
