Above is Bob Lichter, the lead downtown ambassador, manning his weekend post greeting HarborMarket visitors and educating the public on all the amazing things happening in our growing downtown. It was Second Saturday on November 12 and this sunny day was jam packed with exciting events all around downtown.

Second Saturday was developed and marketed by Downtown Kenosha, Inc, a non-profit organization that focuses on promoting and assisting businesses in the Lakeshore Business Improvement District. Through strong leadership from Kevin Ervin (board chairman) and foundational support put in place by former director Christopher Naumann, it continues to function like a well-oiled machine. DKI’s strong network of volunteers continue to put in their time to make their community stronger.

DKI’s foundation comes from its four committees that are led by volunteers focusing on key areas to move toward the goal of downtown economic revitalization. These committees meet monthly and are open to the public as volunteers share their unique skills and experience.

Committee Meeting Dates

  • Organization Committee 3rd Monday at 6pm (next meeting December 19)

  • Design Committee 3rd Tuesday at 6pm (next meeting December 20)

  • Promotions Committee 4th Monday at 6pm (next meeting November 28)

  • Economic Redevelopment Committee 4th Tuesday at 6pm (next meeting November 22)

While the committees are important, they are not the only way to get involved. If projects are more exciting to you, we have upcoming events that need lots of volunteers. You can always join Bob at the HarborMarket on Saturday mornings or be a part of Lightin’ Up from 5-9pm on Friday, November 25. For more information contact info@downtownkenosha.org.
