May is National Bike Month, and I can’t think of a better place to enjoy a bike ride than in Downtown Kenosha. Part of the Pike Bike Trail is HarborPark in Downtown Kenosha - which offers a ride that includes views of Lake Michigan, plenty of parks and green spaces, and of course some shopping and dining options along the way.
Just in time for Bike Month, new bike racks were installed around the downtown neighborhood last month. Now cyclists can stop for a bite to eat or a cool beverage without having to lock their bikes to trees and stop signs – pretty handy. Visitors to the area (or residents who don’t own their own bikes) can even rent bikes in Downtown Kenosha from Ski & Sports Chalet. A rental is just $15 per day and includes a bike lock.
Biking isn’t just for the month of May, though! Did you know that during spring, summer and fall months (as long as weather permits) there is a group of cyclists that meet every Saturday morning at Harborside Common Grounds to bike from the downtown coffee shop to a neighboring coffee shop in Northern Illinois? Yup! It's called the Saturday Morning Coffee Ride. Your biking adventure in the downtown area could also include stops at both the Southport Lighthouse and the Pierhead Lighthouse, as well as stops at 4 National Register Historic Districts, the Kenosha Sculpture Walk, several museums & attractions, and maybe even a free concert depending on the season!
Biking is a great way to explore Downtown Kenosha – by yourself, with family, with friends, or with other cyclists. So, grab a bike and get pedaling!
