It’s always breakfast time somewhere. And if Downtown Kenosha is known for one thing, it’s breakfast. Sure, there are some excellent museums, but they weren’t featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Well, scootch over Franks Diner and The Coffee Pot and make room for a new player in town! Vinny’s Restaurant, located at 512 56th Street (formerly Linnea Bakery), stands out with casual atmosphere and convenient location. It’s the perfect environment for lingering with friends - at least until your neighbors hear about it and the place is too busy for lingering.
Open daily from 6:00 am to 3:30 pm, breakfast is the main event and is available all day. They offer a full range of your breakfast favorites, including the option of substituting pancakes for toast with your bacon and eggs, winning Vinny’s a loyal following within my family. But if you want to be wowed, head over to the omelette section of the menu. Weighing in at a generously stuffed 4 eggs, they’re sure to satisfy even the heartiest of appetites. The diversity of meaty, vegetarian and exotic options will ensure that anyone can find something to make them happy. Fun fact – they are all made individually in pans, not on a griddle. That means you won’t find pieces of anyone else omelette in yours!
But breakfast isn’t all Vinny’s has to offer. There’s a wide range of appetizers, salads, and hot and cold sandwiches. There is also a supplemental menu with Italian favorites. Even though I’m a diehard breakfast person, the shrimp spring rolls sound (and look) too good not to try. There are a variety of options that take traditional diner fare and bring it into the 21st century. And you get a free cup of the soup of the day with any lunch order!
But who is Vinny, you ask? The owners are brothers-in-law Eddie and Danny. Vinny is Eddie’s son, whom the restaurant is named after.
So stop on by and find an old favorite or discover something new to love. This place is a wonderful addition to the Downtown dining scene.
